When you look at music today, you wonder what is missing. What is missing is the element of lyricism. Today everyone has a gimmick and the true essence of spitting has faded away. I find myself always going back to the late 80's early 90's where true lyricists weren't an endangered species.

Shyheim's Latest Video

Shyheim is a rapper from that era who has always been known for his vivid storytelling of the streets and the real issues that exist in our community. He has never been afraid to speak on the everyday struggle that we all at some point face. It’s nice to rap about the clothes, money, clubs, popping champagne and all that but once you leave that lifestyle the same problems still remain. The truth is often left out of music today.

Once affiliated with Wu Tang, Shyheim has been able to step out and hold his own. He not only has had a successful music career, but a solid acting one as well. While on a hiatus from acting Shyheim started his own record label Bottom Up Records. Shyheim’s label wants its artists to keep their originality and individuality while allowing them to learn the music business hands on.

In addition to being CEO of Bottom Up Records, Shyheim is now back and working on a follow up to his classic album “Manchild”. Shyheim’s new album which is set to drop this summer will be accompanied by an autobiography he is working on titled “The Evolution of Manchild”.

“Disrespectfully Speaking” is his current album and it sticks to the real, raw, and gritty songs that he is known for. Although being in the game for over a decade, Shyheim has never strayed from his roots. He is now older, wiser, and stronger and is ready to bring real hip hop back.
